White Sands National Monument

We arrived at White Sands around mid afternoon. It was so beautiful with all that sand just seeming to come from no where.  Realizing that there used to be an ocean hear made it easier to understand why their would be sand in the middle of a desert.

  

Grampa loved playing in the sand!

I thought the sand would be hot, like on a beach but it was cool so I climbed up to where Grampa was and played in the sand too.

The sand on top was very fine in nature.







When you dig way under and bring up sand it clumps together and feels wet.

We couldn't resist a moment of 'I love you' in this wide expanse of white sand.

As Grampa was squinting because the sun was so bright, he looks like a cartoon character!

I made it to the top of the sand dune we were on. It took me a while without my cane but I was very proud of myself for making up to the top. I am woman, hear me roar!

We are leaving the dunes to head to Las Cruces for the night.

We love you guys so very much. It has been a long time, three years since we have actually seen each other in person. With Grampa being in school to become an RN it is hard for us to get away more than once a year. Hopefully we can see one another in person very soon!
